A simple recipe for this traditional Passover staple. I always make a great deal extra to munch on for days! Mixture will turn the appropriate shade of brown to look like the mortar which it represents. You can substitute sugar for the honey, if desired.

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and coarsely grated
  • 1 cup walnuts, finely ground
  • 2 tablespoons grape juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix apples, walnuts, grape juice, honey, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled, 8 hours to overnight.
